We rose early and went by electric bus (diesel and petrol buses are forbidden for 2km around the site to try to alleviate the pollution) to the gates of the Taj Mahal – entry was arranged by our guide and he told us that normally 50,000 people would view the site every day, due to the bomb attacks earlier that year maybe only 5,000 could be expected that day.

I’ve got all the standard photos but was taken by the marble’s characteristics, it absorbs light and refracts it, this was taken sitting on the ‘ground’ and the rising sun was filtered through the early morning ‘mists’.
