A few years ago I had the chance to travel in India with Zoe, it was the year of the bombings in Mumbai so tourist numbers where down. That meant wherever we went the normal tourist throngs were almost non-existent.
This was taken inside the Jama Majid, one of the largest Mosques in India. People slept in corners, played music quietly to a wall and spoke with friends and of course prayed.
The architecture is amazing – size and space evident both inside and out.
It was in May, very hot and as you remove your shoes to enter the Mosque, strips of hessian were laid as walkways to protect your soles.
