The church sits back off the road on a rise above the local Raetihi Marae. Every time I’ve been there (mainly in winter as Raetihi is were we stay when snow boarding) there’s been low cloud cover and little sun.

I’m not sure if the church is used on a regular basis or not, will be something to check out on another trip up the mountain.

  1. What a lonely looking place it needs a lot of TLC.

    • Actually Martha, it’s a vibrant community, there is a fully operating Marae at the foot of the rise the Church sits on which is a focal point for local families

      • Hi Martha, I had the good luck to meet three members of the Te Puke Marae last week, they were on the same ferry back from the South Island as myself. They want to restore the church fully in the near future but require funds etc.

I’ll be looking to create a fund raising idea / program for this early this year which may involve a funding page being set up, if you’d be interested keep an eye out for that to get underway

        cheers Campbell
